Code of Practice
The New Zealand government has introduced measures to guarantee that international students living in New Zealand are protected by a code of practice which will ensure worthwhile and enjoyable study experience. The Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students has been published by the New Zealand Ministry of Education.
Waitakere College has agreed to observe and be bound by the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students published by the Minister of Education.

Farewell Carina Chan
It is with sadness that we inform our school community that Choy Chin (Carina) Chan died Thursday evening, 10 May. Carina, a teacher aide in ESOL since 2006 has been on sick leave since February of this year. She was hospitalised on Sunday but her health deteriorated rapidly.
She was a great friend and mentor to many students. Carina was a fun loving, compassionate member of the ESOL Department who excelled in her work and made a difference in the lives of those who knew her. Carina, you will be sadly missed and remembered at Waitakere College. We mourn your loss.
Our thoughts go to Carina’s son and daughter here in Auckland and Carina’s family from Malaysia and to her many friends at the College, especially Jenny Thomas and Frances Thyberg who have been supportive to her and her family during her illness.
