 FOOTBALL (Soccer) Academy

Year 9, 10 and 11 students keen on soccer now have the chance to apply for membership to our Football Academy, under the guidance of coach Mr Mark Revill.

Criteria for selection      

  • Positions have been restricted to Yr 9, 10 and 11 students
  • those selected must maintain a sound academic programme and achievement
  • excellent attendance
  • a willingness to contribute both skills and spirit to the Waitakere teams for which they play
  • attend a selection interview

    This is an exciting venture for Waitakere College in utilising the strengths of our staff to build up the skills and talents of our students.

Mr Mark Revill

Mark Revill has been appointed to the position of Sports Co-ordinator and Teacher of PE whilst Mr Mulrooney is overseas at the 2012 Summer Olympics.  Mr Revill completed his teacher training and degree in Sport Development and PE at John Moores University, Liverpool, England.  He participates in a number of sports including badminton, running, golf as well as being a keen footballer.  Over the past 12 years he has played for three clubs in Liverpool and Manchester, competing in the Merseyside and Lancashire leagues and reached a number of cup finals.  Mark has also achieved UEFA football coaching at Level 2.

Mr Liam Mulrooney

Liam Mulrooney is an outstanding national league player and a well respected staff member with a Bachelor of Education from the University of Auckland. His playing career includes scoring in both the 2005 and 2007 NZ Football Championship Grand Final where he was named 'Man of the Match'. He has coached and managed clinics up to the Under 19 level at Waitakere City, Bay Olympic and Oratia Clubs as well as Kids Kingz. Liam holds the Level 2 Senior Coaching Certificate and has recently coached for New Zealand Football at the Auckland National Talent Centre.
