We invite parents and fanau of Pasifika students, Years 9-13 to our first fono (meeting) for 2012.
Orientation
All new International students entering Waitakere College will be given a "Kiwi Buddy" who will look after them and help them settle into life at Waitakere College.
Students are also given important information specifically for International students, including their rights and expectations of them.
This is an important programme at the start of the school year to help International Students settle into life at Waitakere College..
Academic:

- The Academic Adviser will help you arrange a suitable course of study.
- You will learn the system for using school computers

Farewell Carina Chan
It is with sadness that we inform our school community that Choy Chin (Carina) Chan died Thursday evening, 10 May. Carina, a teacher aide in ESOL since 2006 has been on sick leave since February of this year. She was hospitalised on Sunday but her health deteriorated rapidly.
She was a great friend and mentor to many students. Carina was a fun loving, compassionate member of the ESOL Department who excelled in her work and made a difference in the lives of those who knew her. Carina, you will be sadly missed and remembered at Waitakere College. We mourn your loss.
Our thoughts go to Carina’s son and daughter here in Auckland and Carina’s family from Malaysia and to her many friends at the College, especially Jenny Thomas and Frances Thyberg who have been supportive to her and her family during her illness.
