We invite parents and fanau of Pasifika students, Years 9-13 to our first fono (meeting) for 2012.
Performing Arts
Performing Arts Programme
We offer Year 9 and 10 students with a passion for stage production and performance the option of joining our Performing Arts programme.
The two year course offers students the opportunity to specialise in learning a variety of aspects of performance and performance technology.
The Year 9 course includes: Music, Dance, Drama, Wearable Arts, Film, Theatre-Lighting and Design, Stage Make-up, plus much more.
The Year 10 students develop these skills further with a final graduation Variety Night in December of each year.
- Students will be expected to take part in all activities including the annual school musical
- Students will still cover the compulsory core subjects for Year 9 and 10.
To apply for this course, fill out the application form in the Prospectus or by contacting the College office. Applicants will attend an interview in November of the year prior to the start of the course before the final selection is made.

Farewell Carina Chan
It is with sadness that we inform our school community that Choy Chin (Carina) Chan died Thursday evening, 10 May. Carina, a teacher aide in ESOL since 2006 has been on sick leave since February of this year. She was hospitalised on Sunday but her health deteriorated rapidly.
She was a great friend and mentor to many students. Carina was a fun loving, compassionate member of the ESOL Department who excelled in her work and made a difference in the lives of those who knew her. Carina, you will be sadly missed and remembered at Waitakere College. We mourn your loss.
Our thoughts go to Carina’s son and daughter here in Auckland and Carina’s family from Malaysia and to her many friends at the College, especially Jenny Thomas and Frances Thyberg who have been supportive to her and her family during her illness.
