We invite parents and fanau of Pasifika students, Years 9-13 to our first fono (meeting) for 2012.

International Students’ trip
Each year, students have the opportunity to enjoy a trip organised by the international staff. This is often to a scenic part of New Zealand or areas of interest close to Auckland city.
Senior school ball
All Year 12 and 13 students have the opportunity to attend the Senior School Ball, a highlight of social life in the senior school.
Dress is formal. Students can bring evening wear with them to NZ, but local help is available with dress arrangements.

Farewell Carina Chan
It is with sadness that we inform our school community that Choy Chin (Carina) Chan died Thursday evening, 10 May. Carina, a teacher aide in ESOL since 2006 has been on sick leave since February of this year. She was hospitalised on Sunday but her health deteriorated rapidly.
She was a great friend and mentor to many students. Carina was a fun loving, compassionate member of the ESOL Department who excelled in her work and made a difference in the lives of those who knew her. Carina, you will be sadly missed and remembered at Waitakere College. We mourn your loss.
Our thoughts go to Carina’s son and daughter here in Auckland and Carina’s family from Malaysia and to her many friends at the College, especially Jenny Thomas and Frances Thyberg who have been supportive to her and her family during her illness.

Wednesday: 9.30am start (to allow teacher professional development to take place)
Finishing times: each day- 3.05pm.
